So, how long does it take to become an EMT? This may be the question that you are asking yourself. If so, it depends on the level you want to reach. Some of the EMT programs that prepare can last 3-weeks or up to 2 years.

There are five levels of certification, when it comes to becoming an EMT. They include responder, EMT-basic, EMT intermediate (1985), EMT intermediate (1999), and paramedic. Each level can be a rewarding experience, but there is more action and opportunities, the higher up you reach for.
