Plastic surgery is a field that is dedicated to improving people’s appearance. Plastic surgeons enjoy restoring the confidence of people that have imperfections that are deemed unacceptable by society. This profession has become very lucrative because many people in developed countries have become obsessed with plastic surgery because they want to emulate their favorite celebrities. Many people who are interested in this career have one question in mind, which is, how long does it take to become a plastic surgeon?

The answer to that question is several years. Students are required to complete four years of undergraduate school followed by four years of medical school. After graduating from medical school, students are required to complete a one year internship followed by a residency. A residency can last anywhere from 3-6 years, so a person can expect to spend at least 12 years in school studying to be a plastic surgeon.

But before you commit to any program or school, we recommend researching and comparing numerous sources.
