It is amazing all the things that firefighters do. So how long does it take to become a firefighter? The average course takes a few months and since a lot of firefighters are volunteers in small towns, they do this course on their own time in between work hours and their personal family time. It is a tough course physically, mentally, emotionally and it takes a deep sense of dedication but the rewards of the accomplishment far outweigh the demands.
Firefighters say that there is nothing like the rush of adrenalin that surges through them when they face their first fire. Fear may have a factor but that is all part of the desire and push to overcome that fear and be part of a team that can save a home or family.
