Dentistry is a great profession because of the pay and the ability to have your own practice if you choose to do so. Many people wonder how long does it take to become a dentist. Well, it typically will take a person four years to achieve their Bachelor’s degree and then they will have to complete another three to four years of dental school. The time it takes to complete dental school depends on the program and if the student decides to take any breaks between school years.

There are typically two paths of schooling a student studying dentistry can pursue. They can specialize in surgical dentistry or pursue the path of a medical dentist. One path is just much more surgical in nature. They both take the same time of study to complete, and once finished, the dentist is on their way to a rewarding career.
